Economic Analysis

SCAG’s analysis of economic data is conducted both internally as well as with the assistance of outside economic consultants. Apart from SCAG’s team of independent economic advisors that continually assist with economic analyses on the Southern California Economic Recovery & Job Creation Strategy and Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS), SCAG also compiles a wide breadth of economic and
demographic data that is made available to our various stakeholder agencies and cities and counties throughout the region.

RTP Economic Analysis

For the first time, SCAG’s Regional Transportation Plan includes a significant consideration of the economic impacts and opportunities provided by the transportation infrastructure plan set forth in the 2012–2035 Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS). This analysis considers not only the economic and job creation impacts of the direct investment in transportation infrastructure, but also the efficiency gains in terms of worker and business economic productivity and goods movement.
